A note on what comes next
šš» Hello, Substack friends! šš»
Itās been a couple of weeks since my last post, and my. goodness. a lot has happened.
1ļøā£ My job has been⦠exceptionally stressful. I donāt want to give that too much energy, but I will summarize this with: Iāve been trying to force a fit that isnāt good for me, for too long; I need a change of pace; I need more mental bandwidth and physical energy to live my life and be my best, creative self.
Highlights: I have put in my two weeks, I have something lined up that fits my values as a person (in an industry I care about, and with women in leadership), and I will fully transition jobs by the end of March 2026. I have promised to not mix work with writing too much here, so if youāre curious about my current career and next moves, Iāll update my LinkedIn at some point in March. Watch there š
2ļøā£ I attended the San Francisco Writerās conference! So much to say about this too, but Iām short on time this evening. Iāve got a local film industry mixer to get to!
Highlights: I pitched my written screenplay (The Womanās Order) and another story I have planned to Hollywood management execs, they loved both, and I have a handshake on representation so long as they think they can work with me.
Given those major shifts, Iāve also decided that Iāll be deliberately shaping my Substack into a few focus areas: film, flash fiction, and reflections. As part of the focus on film, Iād like to announceā¦
š£ š„ Coming Soon: Feels from Reels
This will be a movie review series where I watch a movie, and then I record the feelings and thoughts the story brings out of me, without giving too much away. Iāve had this on the back burner for a while, but Iāll be sending my first article in this series this weekend. As a screenwriter, this helps surface and explore the emotions that good character arcs should make the audience feel, and incorporate that into my own writing. Stay tuned!
š Thank you, reader!
If you read this or anything else Iāve written, thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Best,

Congratulations, that sounds all very exciting! Film, flash fiction, and reflections are my favourite - very much looking forward to it!
