Slumber
A poem
Pajamas and stuffed toys An end to the day Full of love and smiles New memories in the heart vault A slumber party, you smile "I love you, Aunt Becky" In the middle of the night A mid-dream whimper A sleeping boy cries in his subconscious Pat on the back A vocal reassurance, then-- Back to sleep A lot of terrors exist In the conscious In the subconscious But in the darkest hour I will protect you from The monsters
