Contact is still my favorite "are we alone?" movie because it asked the question I keep coming back to: What changes after the truth comes out? My answer has always been... surprisingly little. We'd still have to pay taxes, go to work, and mow the lawn. The universe may become infinitely bigger overnight, but Monday morning still shows up.
Then my X-Files brain kicks in and whispers, "Easy there... has anyone checked whether To Serve Man is a cookbook?" π Go Rod Serling!
FYI, Mulder & Scully were debating this back in the 1990's! π ET Phone Home! πΎ
Contact has a special place in my heart, and is up there with Arrival for me!
My hope is that the things that change when the truth comes out are the things that need to: petty and organized division amongst ourselves, imbalanced class structures, our view on planetary resources, etc.
